It is my great pleasure to recommend Eric Hsieh of Action Sales for Sales Representative of 2017, though in all honesty his distinctive performance spans beyond this past year, and even beyond the five years I have worked with him. Eric deserves this reward for his consistent professionalism, his depth of knowledge and sense of accountability, and finally his unique hospitality and service-oriented attitude. Eric has always exhibited consistent professionalism, no matter who he interacts with. In 2013 I was a 26 year-old opening my first restaurant ever on a very tight budget. Each week, Eric would accompany me throughout my entire visit, patiently answering detailed questions about customizations and recommending options when I felt overwhelmed. Eventually he helped me source $60,000 worth of large equipment, smallwares, and upgrades. As my restaurant has grown to a second location, Eric assisted me again this past year with the exact same patient helpfulness he once did years ago. Even more remarkable, I see him interact with all sorts of other customers—varying in age, ethnicity, gender, and English proficiency—and he is always unwavering in his approach. This level of consistency is rare in any service profession. Beyond simple professionalism, Eric is also just plain good at his job. He knows every permutation of stovetop burner sizes, can recommend gas valve and building upgrades, and can even recommend equipment by simply anticipating my needs. Beyond appliance specifications, Eric’s network of maintenance and repair contacts has also ensured that I keep my restaurant doors open at all times. He also understands that I am extremely busy and ensures that deliveries are made when convenient to me, and not just for his delivery team. What makes Eric truly memorable is his extra level of hospitality in an industry that prioritizes service. On our soft open weekend for the second restaurant, Eric was one of the first customers and brought us an enormous bouquet of flower. Restaurant owners can be a demanding bunch, but Eric’s friendly and positive attitude are refreshing to see outside of retail dining rooms. If equipment is not performing to specification, as a new pasta maker did this past year, he remains calm despite my own rising level of panic. Instead, he turns our attention toward finding solutions, where his competency reassures me. I am lucky to have Eric as my sales representative. Every time I seek him out, I know I will find solutions to my problems and not just recommendations to look elsewhere. In fact, after five years of working together, he truly feels like an important part of my team. Restaurants are all about service and Eric matches—and exceeds—that when it comes to equipment sales. I heartily recommend him for this award.

It has come to my attention that Eric Hsieh from Action Sales has been nominated for Sales Representative of the Month. I wanted to let you know my thoughts about the nomination. Gelson’s is a small upscale grocery company with 25 stores, celebrating 68 years of serving the community. Gelson’s reputation is providing high quality, perishables (meats, seafood, produce, floral) and premium restaurant quality prepared hot and cold foods. In order to maintain our reputation Gelson’s prepares and cooks all hot and cold food on sight at each store. We believe the quality would suffer if we used an off-site commissary. Sourcing the cooking equipment to handle the volume of prepared foods has always been a challenge. Holding the foods in equipment that maintains the integrity of the product is essential. Partnering with an equipment company that recommends equipment that is easy to use, easy to clean, reliable and fit my budget is an important part of our success. I thought we were happy with our existing equipment supplier but asked Action Sales to participate in sourcing equipment as an alternate. Through hard work, Eric Hsieh earned a position at Gelson’s as the primary equipment supplier. Eric has introduced equipment manufacturers that I might not have considered or known about. The suggestions have saved money and provided quality equipment. Eric is quick to respond to questions and training and knows when to involve manufacturer’s representatives to help solve issues. Saving money is a top priority for GelSon’s and always appreciated. Eric is proactive with rebate notification and other cost savings are available on equipment. Grocery stores prefer night or very early morning deliveries and installations. Noise and Curfew ordinances make delivery logistics challenging, but Eric is able to line-up deliveries to meet our limitations and deadlines. The quality that Eric exhibits that I find the most beneficial for Gelson’s is that he is a good communicator. Eric’s follow-up with written and verbal communication is excellent and lets everyone involved know what is happening and what to expect from Action Sales. Action Sales is lucky to have Eric Hsieh as their representative.
