The food pan is made of 22-gauge 18-8 stainless steel for resistance to heat and corrosion. Gauge is a measure of thickness (the lower the gauge, the thicker the material). It has a rim and reinforced corners for rigidity. The tapered shape allows two or more pans to be nested for storage without jamming. The corners inside the pan are rounded for scooping out food and for cleaning. The food pan is dishwasher-safe and measures 1 ½ x 4 inches. It has a capacity of 0.90 quarts.
