It has come to my attention that Eric Hsieh from Action Sales has been nominated for Sales Representative of the Month. I wanted to let you know my thoughts about the nomination. Gelson’s is a small upscale grocery company with 25 stores, celebrating 68 years of serving the community. Gelson’s reputation is providing high quality, perishables (meats, seafood, produce, floral) and premium restaurant quality prepared hot and cold foods. In order to maintain our reputation Gelson’s prepares and cooks all hot and cold food on sight at each store. We believe the quality would suffer if we used an off-site commissary. Sourcing the cooking equipment to handle the volume of prepared foods has always been a challenge. Holding the foods in equipment that maintains the integrity of the product is essential. Partnering with an equipment company that recommends equipment that is easy to use, easy to clean, reliable and fit my budget is an important part of our success. I thought we were happy with our existing equipment supplier but asked Action Sales to participate in sourcing equipment as an alternate. Through hard work, Eric Hsieh earned a position at Gelson’s as the primary equipment supplier. Eric has introduced equipment manufacturers that I might not have considered or known about. The suggestions have saved money and provided quality equipment. Eric is quick to respond to questions and training and knows when to involve manufacturer’s representatives to help solve issues. Saving money is a top priority for GelSon’s and always appreciated. Eric is proactive with rebate notification and other cost savings are available on equipment. Grocery stores prefer night or very early morning deliveries and installations. Noise and Curfew ordinances make delivery logistics challenging, but Eric is able to line-up deliveries to meet our limitations and deadlines. The quality that Eric exhibits that I find the most beneficial for Gelson’s is that he is a good communicator. Eric’s follow-up with written and verbal communication is excellent and lets everyone involved know what is happening and what to expect from Action Sales. Action Sales is lucky to have Eric Hsieh as their representative.
